KBIS kitchen trends for 2016
This January Laminex New Zealand had the honour of sending German Kitchens’ Damian Hannah to the KBIS show in Las Vegas as part of our NKBA Awards sponsorship. KBIS is North America’s ultimate kitchen & bathroom exhibition held in conjunction with the National Association of Home Builder’s Show. Considered the voice of the industry, KBIS has been held for over 50 years, showcasing the latest products, trends and technologies in the kitchen and bathroom space.
Damian was hosted by Formica Group’s Vice President of Design Renee Hytry Derrington and witnessed a number of amazing and exciting innovations throughout the show such as a 3D printed bathroom mixer, sous vide cooking for the residential kitchen and a number of enhancements to the depth and texture of benchtop surfaces that we’re sure to see heading to our shores soon.
In terms of colour and texture, woods, greys, concretes and stones are all very much on trend at the moment and were seen throughout the show.
At Laminex New Zealand we’re seeing these trends surface in our new Caesarstone additions. Our two new concrete-look decors Fresh Concrete and Raw Concrete offer the industrial look in two shades to suit any interior. The new hero of the collection is Statuario Nuvo, which is Caesarstone’s interpretation of natural statuario marble. With impressive dark veins on a white background, Statuario Nuvo is the perfect embodiment of this trend towards stone look décor.
New woodgrains Espresso Ligna and Aged Ash were added to the Melteca quality laminated panels late last year, along with three Legno variations, Jarrah, Oiled and Blackened Legno. These offer variety across the timber tones, bringing warmth and a more natural look to interiors.
As part of the Fletcher Building International Business division, members of our global design team visit the world’s most important and influential industry design shows to share with us key tips and trends, and to play an important part in developing our future product innovation.
